Louisville vs Oklahoma College Basketball Betting Preview

Louisville Basketball

The Cardinals have looked like a dangerous team of late. They have ravaged off four wins in a row. They were embarrassed at home against Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, but they have quickly turned things around.

They have four players averaging over 11 points per game, including Wisconsin transfer Chucky Hepburn, their leading scorer, who averages 15 points per game. They have been one of the most efficient teams scoring inside the arc, ranking sixth nationally in 2-point percentage.

The Cardinals have an intense matchup against the Sooners, who have been turnover-prone in the early going. The Cardinals are third in turnover rate on the defensive side of the ball.

The Cardinals have struggled shooting the triple, but the number of 3s they attempt per game suggests they are due for positive shooting regression moving forward.

The Sooners have been strong against the triple thus far, but they allow a lot of attempts, so I expect that regression to start to kick in eventually.

I am concerned about the Cardinals' rebounding ability, but they have been much better on the offensive glass. The Sooners have allowed a lot of offensive rebounds, which could be a fundamental difference in the matchup.

Oklahoma Basketball

The Sooners were impressive yesterday against the Wildcats, as head coach Porter Moser has his program moving in the right direction.

The tandem of Jeremiah Fears and Jalon Moore has been sensational. Both of them are shooting 36% or better from deep, and they are averaging 17+ points per game each. Transfer guard Kobe Elvis is off to a slow start from deep, but he's chipping in 12 points per game.

The biggest concern for the Sooners is their small size against the Cardinals, as they could be in trouble on the offensive glass.

The Sooners also turn the ball over a bit too much for my liking, but they make up for it on the defensive side.

Sooners' opponents are shooting 28% from 3 thus far, which would be a positive attribute for their defense if they weren't allowing so many attempts from deep. The Cardinals have been cold offensively in that area, which leads me to believe the Sooners could be exposed tonight.

The Sooners have also been destroyed inside the paint, allowing opponents to shoot 53% from inside the arc. The Cardinals' offense has been excellent scoring inside, so the Sooners could be in big trouble tonight.

Oklahoma's 3-point shooting has been excellent, averaging 36% as a team. The Cardinals' opponents have shot 34% in that area, but they have allowed many attempts per game.

If the Sooners are going to pull off the win tonight, their 3-point shooters need to show up. Otherwise, they could be in for a long night against a much more physical, lengthier Cardinals team.

Louisville vs Oklahoma Betting Analysis

I am laying the points with the Cardinals tonight. KenPom projects the game as Louisville -1, but I tend to side with the market if the spread is more inflated than those projections.

The Cardinals are the more physical team and should be able to score at will inside.

They also have positive shooting regression looming, and the Sooners have allowed a decent amount of attempts from deep thus far.

The Cardinals must remain disciplined on the perimeter, as the Sooners are a terrific 3-point shooting team. They are finally starting to mesh as a team, and I like them to take care of business tonight.
