The Chicago Bears are activating starting running back David Montgomery ahead of their Monday Night Football matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which could create a dilemma for fantasy football managers.
Montgomery will join Khalil Herbert in the backfield on Monday with fellow running back Damien Williams out. Herbert, a rookie sixth-round pick, has filled in admirably and likely finds himself in fantasy lineups this week.
But what should managers do now that Montgomery is returning?
Most likely, if you have one or the other already in your lineup, there aren't any other options to replace them. However, for those managers who picked up Herbert to replace Montgomery in their lineups, it could be a tough decision.
Should you start Montgomery or Herbert?
Action Network fantasy football expert and Director of Predictive Analytics Sean Koerner expects both to see action, but says to wait on a decision for now.
"I think Herbert will still get a bulk of the touches tonight. But I think they want to get Monty "some" work heading into their Week 10 bye week as well," he said.
"Also, since Damien Williams is out, they need Montgomery back as the RB2."
"I wouldn't make any sit/start decisions yet because we might have a much better idea of what to expect closer to kick off."
