The Yankees beat the Guardians 5-2 in Game 1 of the ALCS and will look to extend their series lead on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
As the Guardians look to even the series, let's dive into my Guardians vs Yankees Game 2 player props for Juan Soto and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Guardians vs Yankees Player Props for ALCS Game 2
- Juan Soto Over 1.5 Total Bases +135 (Bet365, Play to +125)
- Jazz Chisholm Over 1.5 Total Bases +190 (Bet365, Play to +180)
Juan Soto Player Props: Back Soto Against Cleveland
Through 34 postseason games, Soto has slugged .508 and put up an .873 OPS. After a fairly middling series against the Royals, he came through with two hits, including a homer 402-foot homer off of Alex Cobb in the third inning, in three at-bats. While Tanner Bibee is an elite arm, there are some splits that suggest this is a good spot to ride the hot-hand.
Since the All-Star Break, Soto has slugged .584 versus righties and holds an OPS of 1.001. His 47% hard-hit rate in that span ranks fourth in MLB. Additionally, Bibee has allowed a 47% hard-hit rate against left-handed batters over the past month and allowed a .460 slug rate across 92 1/3 innings versus lefties this season.
Bibee has allowed a .257 xBA over the past two months, and been hard-hit 40% of the time. His Stuff+ rating his dipped to 94 in that span, compared to his season long mark of 99.
Soto's 18.1% walk rate can make this a frustrating market to back him, which is why backing him to record over 1.5 Hits, Runs and RBI is also appealing. Also, Bibee doesn't walk many batters (6.2 BB%).
Jazz Chisholm Jr. Player Props: Big Night For Jazz?
The other New York lefty who looks appealing in this matchup is Chisholm, a heavy underdog to record Over 1.5 total bases. Chisholm's recent underlying process looks quite reasonable and he could be in line for a little more luck offensively.
Since August 1st, Chisholm holds a hard-hit rate of 50.4% and an xBA of .251. He's slugged .461 off righties this season, with an OPS of .787. He's managed a 43% hard-hit rate this postseason, but isn't having much luck in terms of quality contact getting down in-play.
At anything better than +180, I see value in backing Chisholm to record Over 1.5 total bases in this matchup.
