Shayne Trail breaks down his favorite NRFI/YRFI bets of the day below, but you can follow all of his bets in the Action Network app.
Matchup | Edward Cabrera vs. George Kirby |
First Pitch | 9:40 p.m. ET |
There's no run first-inning (NRFI) betting value today at T-Mobile Park in an intriguing matchup between the Miami Marlins and the Seattle Mariners.
George Kirby will take the ball for the Mariners tonight, and he has compiled a commendable 9-3 record in the first inning (NRFI) this season, coupled with an impressive home record of 5-1 in the NRFI. Kirby has exhibited significant improvement compared to his NRFI performance last year, where he finished with a 14-9 overall record.
The right-hander has a favorable matchup today, as the Miami Marlins are widely regarded as one of the weaker first-inning hitting teams in baseball. Over the past two weeks, and spanning more than 50 plate appearances, the Marlins have managed to produce only seven hits, resulting in a paltry .152 batting average. Over that same span, Miami possesses the third-highest Strikeout Rate in the first inning across all of baseball.
Given that Kirby is a relatively young pitcher with limited exposure to the Marlins' hitters, this unfamiliarity will undoubtedly work in his favor. It is also worth mentioning that several Marlins hitters are currently mired in slumps, including Yuli Gurriel (1 for 9, .111 average), Jesus Sanchez (4 for 21, .191 average) and Jean Segura (4 for 20, .200 average).
On the other side of the NRFI, the Marlins will entrust their young ace, Edward Cabrera, to hold the Mariners at bay. Cabrera has exhibited remarkable first-inning performances, now owning a combined 21-6 NRFI record in his first two years in the major leagues.
Despite the Mariners' recent success in the first inning, the team still ranks among the bottom-tier performers in baseball within the past two weeks, boasting a meager .227 batting average during that span. Additionally, their Strikeout Rate in the first inning is a mere 3% superior to that of the Miami Marlins.
Similar to Kirby, Cabrera will have the advantage of facing unfamiliar Mariners hitters, as he has never encountered any of them in previous matchups. It should also be noted for the Mariners that Jared Kelenic is projected to bat fourth today and is flirting with entering a slump.
This NRFI is priced at -140 on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
As always, six outs to glory…
