Pitchers and catchers have reported to Spring Training and that means the MLB season is just over a month away.
For those missing their diamond-shaped action, BetMGM released their updated World Series odds and liabilities, revealing where bettors are putting their money on baseball futures.
According to the odds, we have as wide open as a field as we've had in modern history when looking at teams capable of winning the World Series.
The Astros are favored to repeat at +650, while the Mets, Yankees and Dodgers are all listed at +750. The Padres and Braves are next in line — listed at +1000 — and the team that won the National League last year, the Phillies, is listed at +1400.
In terms of liabilities, it's no surprise to see two New York squads near the top of the list. The Mets and the Yankees are the first- and third-most wagered on teams to win the World Series, respectively, but neither represents BetMGM's biggest liability.
That honor goes to the Guardians, who have tracked 8.1% of the wagers and 9.9% of the handle at a +2500 price.
Other popular bets are the Phillies, who have accounted for 7.7% of the wagers and the 8.2% of the handle, and the favored Astros. Houston has amassed 7.4% of the tickets and 10.6% of the money.
MLB's Opening Day is March 30.
