Rain just won't leave NASCAR alone. After shortening last week's midweek race at Darlington and causing nearly a 90-minute delay during Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, precipitation forced the full postponement of yesterday's Alsco Uniforms 500, also at Charlotte.
The race has been rescheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. ET (FS1) and yes, you guessed it, rain is once again in the picture.
Let's take a detailed at look at the Thursday weather forecast for tonight's Alsco Uniforms 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
NASCAR at Charlotte Thursday Weather Forecast
While rain is the forecast Thursday night, it's a 60% chance compared to Wednesday's 80% probability.
And while yesterday's showers flooded Charlotte Motor Speedway, the current forecast is calling for less than one-tenth of an inch of rain.
So based on the current forecast, it's seems more probable that NASCAR can find a window to run the full 500 kilometer distance, or even wait out a delay to find a way to complete half the race to make it official.
Tonight's Alsco Uniforms 500 is scheduled for 208 laps, meaning it becomes official at lap 104.
The Cup Series is scheduled to race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, so it's likely that NASCAR will wait out the rain tonight and do everything it can to get in an official race at Charlotte so the teams, officials and TV production crews can turn their attention to this weekend's event.
