NASCAR odds for Pocono are very Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR)-heavy, with Denny Hamlin (+375) as the race favorite, per bet365, followed by Martin Truex Jr. (+500), Kyle Larson (+550) and Ty Gibbs (+750).
Yes, that's three (Hamlin, Truex and Gibbs) Toyotas at the top of the live NASCAR odds board. So, why not try to beat them all in the top manufacturer market?
Yes, there is a hint (OK, more than just a hint) of sarcasm in there, but sometimes it makes sense to try and beat the favorites in certain scenarios, and I believe this is one of those opportunities.
Below, I explain the 40-1 NASCAR pick I made for Pocono, including the reasoning behind this high-upside wager.
NASCAR Odds, Pick for Pocono
To start, Bubba Wallace showed plenty of speed in Saturday's practice session, posting the fourth-fastest single lap and the fifth-best five-lap average.
However, the 23XI Racing driver got loose after entering the corner a bit too low in qualifying, pushing his car up the track en route to a 29th-place starting position.
While that's clearly not ideal, this car appears to have plenty of speed in race trim. And with the potential of getting off-sequence from the leaders with a differing strategy, backing Wallace to beat seven other Toyotas is well worth the risk considering the 40-1 price tag.
Please note that some sportsbooks, such as BetMGM and bet365, are offering this at 25-1 odds, so be sure to navigate over to Caesars for a much beefier 40-1.
