Brooklyn Nets NBA Championship Odds
Brooklyn Nets Analysis
It’s been a rollercoaster of a season for the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving initially sat out due to his vaccination status that precluded him from playing in home games.
Then the Delta variant ran through the NBA, and as teams began to sign lesser known players to 10-day contracts due to too many missing players, the Nets and Irving agreed for him to play only in road games.
Eventually in late March, the vaccine mandate was lifted in New York City and Irving was then allowed to play in home games too.
As the Irving saga drew out, James Harden grew frustrated and wanted out of Brooklyn to find a better chance to win a title once Kevin Durant suffered an MCL injury. The Nets flipped him for Ben Simmons, Seth Curry and Andre Drummond at the trade deadline.
However, Simmons has yet to play for them due to a back injury and won’t make his season debut until at least the latter half of the first round. Curry could prove to be a huge addition as sharpshooter Joe Harris is out for the year. Drummond provides another much needed big body they can use inside.
Durant looked like an MVP frontrunner before the MCL injury and has returned to full strength. The question for the Nets is if they can continue to simply outscore their opponents with Durant, Irving, Curry and Patty Mills leading the way.
Their win over the Cavaliers in the Play-In Tournament, set up an intriguing matchup with the Celtics, and their top top ranked defense in the NBA. The Nets have a tough road to reach their ultimate goal but their odds are still fourth-best in the league ahead of the NBA Playoffs.
