I must be crazy to fade Jordan Poole's point prop in a game where the Wizards will be without last season's leading scorer, Kyle Kuzma.

But all the signs are pointing towards an underwhelming Poole outing.

Since Kuzma will be sidelined with a groin injury, Poole will command the entire defensive focus of the Heat. Miami will be all right if players like "Bub" Carrington and Bilal Coulibaly beat it.

While Poole might get a few more shot attempts without Kuzma, the quality of those looks will undoubtedly be worse, as we can expect hard doubles on ball screens where he is the P&R ball-handler.

Additionally, in four career games against the Heat (while playing for Washington), Poole has failed to eclipse this line (22.5) in every outing, averaging merely 15.8 points per game on 39.3% shooting from the floor and 31.4% from 3-point land.

Miami has historically played lockdown defense on Poole, and it won't get any easier due to the Heat's grind-it-out pace (29th in pace). This will force Poole to do most of his work in the half-court, which is not ideal considering that Washington does not have an efficient half-court offense.

Further, the Heat have held opposing point guards to the second-fewest points per game of any team in the NBA through their first four games. This is also not ideal.

Then, there's Poole's overall shooting volume thus far in the 2024-25 campaign, which is not nearly as high as you'd imagine.

Poole has not taken more than 17 field goal attempts in any game this season despite being scorching hot from behind the arc (57.1%). A considerable percentage of Poole's points has also come from 3-point land, where I expect Miami to hone in on defensively.

However, Poole has had great success racking up assists versus Miami; he has recorded seven or more assists in two of his past four games against the Heat. In the two games in which he fell short (six assists), he failed to reach 30 minutes of play.

Poole has not had any problems with playing 30 or more minutes this year, except for the Wizards' home loss against Cleveland.

Digging deeper, Poole averaged 7.2 assists per game with a 28.4% usage rate in games without Kuzma last season, giving this prop some terrific value.

Besides Carrington, a rookie, there isn't another Wizards player who can create for others off the dribble, forcing Poole to take on a more prominent playmaking role with Kuzma sidelined.

Pick: Jordan Poole Under 22.5 Points (-105) & Over 6.5 Assists (-125)

Bilal Coulibaly To Record 6+ Rebounds (+100)

No Kuzma means that Bilal Coulibaly will see an extended amount of minutes versus the Heat, especially since the Wizards have not been digging deep into their bench.

In fact, Washington only played seven players for 11 or more minutes in its last game against Atlanta.

Interestingly enough, the Wizards have had some recent success, scoring 133 points and knocking off the Hawks on their home floor, so I expect them to continue rolling the starters out for most of the game.

In his sole game without Kuzma this season, Coulibaly pulled down nine rebounds in 35 minutes, an impressive outing for the young forward.

At +100 odds, this leg has tremendous value, as Coulibaly hit it in two of the three games in which Kuzma was available.

Additionally, Miami has been atrocious on the glass this season, ranking dead-last in total rebounding percentage.

This should be another great game on the glass for him.

Pick: Bilal Coulibaly Over 5.5 Rebounds (+100)
