Conference play continues in the American as Florida Atlantic hits the road to take on the Tulane Green Wave. It hasn't always been smooth sailing for Dusty May's Owls this season, especially in spots like this on the road.

Tulane has won eight of its nine games in its home arena this year.

Florida Atlantic returned many of its key pieces from last year's Final Four squad, and this year's version seemingly hasn't adjusted to being the hunted instead of the hunters. With four losses already on the season and an 0-2 record in true away games, the Owls will be tested again in this game, and it's hard to know what version of this team will show up.

Tulane is not the best team in the AAC, but it's good enough to beat FAU on a good day. The Owls have already lost to three opponents ranked lower on KenPom than the Green Wave.

On the flip side, Tulane is 0-3 against top-100 opponents and is still seeking its first and only high-quality win of the year to this point.

The biggest mismatch of this game, on paper, will be Florida Atlantic's loaded offense against the horrid Tulane defense. FAU ranks 11th in the nation in Offensive Efficiency, which makes Tulane's 210th-ranked defense a massive liability.

Florida Atlantic can pour in shots from outside on any night. It makes 37% of its attempts from 3 as a team, and there are high-quality shooters all over the floor.

Tulane has been mediocre, at best, at preventing outside shots, as it's 340th in limiting attempts from outside and 238th in 3P% defense.

Vlad Goldin gives the Owls an inside presence as well. His scoring around the rim has helped FAU tally the 14th-best 2P% offense in college basketball.

It won't be easy for Tulane to match up.

Tulane Green Wave

Tulane's offense may be up for the challenge though, as the Green Wave are no slouches offensively themselves. The Tulane offense ranks 56th in the nation in efficiency and ninth in effective FG%.

The biggest reason for the Green Wave's success has been their inside scoring. They make 61% of their shots from inside the arc, which is actually better than FAU and ranks fourth nationally.

Tulane doesn't even try to corral offensive rebounds, as it rarely generates second-chance opportunities, ranking 359th in college basketball in that category. The Green Wave will need to make shots to hang in this game.

While it's been great at home, Tulane lost to the only top-100 opponent it's played in its own gym, a 69-66 defeat to George Mason.

Betting Pick & Prediction

Florida Atlantic will be a different type of test for this Green Wave team.

Given the sheer volume of 3-point shots that Tulane allows, this game will come down to the Owls' ability to make looks from outside.

Give us Florida Atlantic big in a bounce-back spot.
