Rejoice!
Full slates of weekend college football are finally upon us.
How will you celebrate?
Well, we know how sharps are, and that’s by backing North Carolina to cover the spread on Friday night against Minnesota, according to BetMGM.
The Tar Heels actually opened as 2.5-point underdogs but are now 1.5-point favorites as kickoff nears. That movement hasn’t deterred the public, either, as 67% of all tickets and 62% of the handle is on North Carolina covering. There’s so much action on it that BetMGM Trader Manager Seamus Magee said it would be “Christmas in September” if the Gophers end up covering.
While North Carolina is getting a ton of action this week, oddsmakers aren’t bullish on their long-term prospects. The Tar Heels have the ninth-longest odds to win the ACC (+3000) out of 17 teams. Their win total is set at 7.5 with the over offered at -120 and under +100.
Meanwhile, Minnesota is near the bottom of a revamped, tough Big Ten conference. They’re +20000 to win it, which is tied for the third-worst odds of any team. Their projected win total is 5.5 with the over -105 and under -115.
