Stetson Bennett IV has entered the Heisman conversation.
It is rare to get an incumbent starting quarterback at a perennial national power with 100-1 odds to win the Heisman, but anyone who is holding that ticket is holding it with a huge grin on their face after Bennett's season debut against Oregon as the Georgia Bulldogs walloped the Ducks in a statement win.
Bennett was the star of the show. The former walk-on threw for over 250 yards and a touchdown in the first half of the game. He continued to pour it on in the third quarter before being taken out with a 42-3 lead.
Bennett finished with 368 passing yards and a pair of passing touchdowns. He completed over 80% of his passes (25-for-31) and added a touchdown on the ground.
With five-star weapons all over the place, it's no wonder why some people were willing to take a shot on the National Championship-winning quarterback.
Stetson Bennett IV Heisman Odds
Bennett hovered around 100-1 for most of the off-season. Although he got some action at various sportsbooks, it wasn't enough for any significant line movement.
He was still 100-1 at DraftKings as of Friday.
However, Bennett did get some significant action at BetMGM before the season as his odds went from 100-1 to 50-1. Still, he accounted for just 1.3% of the total bets and 0.7% of the handle.
Ohio State's C.J. Stroud remains the Heisman favorite at +220 odds. He is followed closely by reigning Heisman Trophy Award winner Bryce Young (+380).
