Many have been wondering if Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec would return to play Friday against Virginia Tech, and a subtle, yet cryptic tweet may have mistakenly spoiled it.
Jurkovec suffered a serious injury in Week 2. He was originally declared doubtful to return this season, but buzz recently circulated he could return against the Hokies.
However, when BC's senior associate director tweeted a picture of the Eagles' locker-room setup for Friday's Red Bandana game, you'll notice Jurkovec's jersey all the way on the left — without pads.

Boston College had been a 3-point 'dog for Friday's home game, but moved off to +2.5 later in the week. The total, meanwhile, is 49.5 at DraftKings.
Jurkovec, a transfer from Notre Dame, caught fire down the stretch of the 2020 campaign, tossing seven touchdown passes to just one interception across the final six.
The 6-5 quarterback diced up Colgate for 303 yards and three touchdowns in the opener, but suffered a fractured wrist the following week against UMass.
Backup Dennis Grosel took the reins in relief of Jurkovec.
After leading the team to back-to-back wins over Temple and Missouri, the Eagles have dropped four straight.
Grosel's attempts, yards and completion percentage have dipped every game since the start of the four-game losing streak. The Eagles are now 4-4, needing three more wins just to push their preseason win total.
Getting Jurkovec back would be huge. But based on the cryptic tweet, that's not guaranteed.
