Update: The Browns have an estimated 88% chance to make the NFL playoffs entering Week 16. Their schedule won't be easy, though, with the Texans and Bengals on the road and the Jets on short rest.
It’s the Joe Flacco show the rest of the way as Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski named the veteran quarterback as the team’s starter the rest of the way. He’s the fourth quarterback the Browns have relied on this season following Deshaun Watson’s season-ending shoulder injury and inconsistent play from Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker.
Cleveland also lost perennial Pro Bowler Nick Chubb for the year, as well as key players including offensive tackles Jack Conklin, Jedrick Willis and Dawand Jones, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, safety Rodney McCloud and more.
Nonetheless, they’re 8-5, and with a win ahead of the other teams fighting for a Wild Card spot, control their own destiny. They also own a ton of tiebreakers with a 6-3 conference record as well as several key head-to-head victories over the Steelers, Colts and Bengals. The Browns’ schedule also sets up nicely for them.
The Browns have a 73% chance to make the NFL playoffs, according to Action Network's Predictive Analytics team. They can virtually lock up a playoff spot with wins against the Bengals and Texans while also facing a pair of middling teams in the Bears and Jets.
