  • After opening at Tampa Bay Buccaneers -5.5 against the New England Patriots, the Sunday Night Football spread is now -6.5 according to the latest NFL odds.
  • However, simply comparing opening to current NFL odds does not tell the entire story for Buccaneers vs. Patriots.
  • In fact, sharp bettors steamed the Buccaneers vs. Patriots spread earlier today, forcing oddsmakers to move Sunday Night Football odds.

Well, well, well, what do we have here?

After an entire week of hearing takes on how Tom Brady wants to stick it to Bill Belichick and that sportsbooks across the country can't buy a ticket on the Patriots, sharps bettors have finally made their opinions clear.

Remember, the Buccaneers vs. Patriots spread opened at Tampa Bay -5.5 and now sits at -6.5, but if you've been following along all week, you know there's a lot more to this number than a 1-point line move.

Late Steam Moving Buccaneers vs. Patriots Odds

The talk has been about just how lopsided the betting trends have been for Buccaneers vs. Patriots, with many in the betting community wondering if this line would eventually climb to New England +7.5 to entire buyback.

With Sunday Night Football's kickoff fast approaching, it might not even close at +7 at this point.

Late Sunday morning, Patriots steam flooded the betting market, gobbling up the +7s and forcing oddsmakers to push this spread down to a consensus of +6.5 (click here for the latest NFL odds).

Steam refers to sudden, uniform line movement across the entire market that is often the result of bettors with the respect and resources to move odds getting down on the same side of the same at multiple sportsbooks all at once.

There's still plenty of time for more Bucs money to show up and push this line back toward 7, but as of now it appears that the wiseguys were very happy to get the Pats and a full touchdown at home.
