Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen deserves kudos for the job he’s done in his first season in Indianapolis. The Colts lost starting quarterback Anthony Richardson in Week 5, while Jonathan Taylor has missed significant time with various ailments.
Yet somehow the Colts are in the thick of the playoff race. They’ve won five of their past six games and are 5-4 against the AFC. Indianapolis’ schedule isn’t that tough the rest of the way, either, as they don’t face a single team currently two games over .500. They play the 7-6 Steelers, 6-7 Falcons, 6-8 Raiders and 7-6 Texans over the next four weeks.
Still, there are several warning signs ahead for the Colts. They’re the NFL’s third-luckiest team in the league according to Action Network's Predictive Analytics team's rankings, so negative regression may be on the way. Additionally, the Bengals, Browns and Jaguars own the tiebreaker over them having already beaten them this season. Our projections give the Colts a 44% of making the playoffs entering Week 15.
