It's no Buffalo (at least not tonight), but a Green Bay-hosted playoff game will almost always spark some weather-related curiosity.

And while this afternoon's matchup looks unlikely to feature snowflakes or camera shots of big thermometers, there's still one element that's always worth keeping on your betting radar: the wind.

Note: Odds, forecast as of 2:30 p.m. ET.

Rams vs. Packers Weather Forecast

As of the early afternoon, it's looking like the Rams and Packers will be playing through a 8-to-9-mph breeze at Lambeau.

That puts this game right on the cusp of the threshold needed to really affect play — and more importantly, to turn a betting profit. Since 2003, games played in double-digit wind speeds have hit the under at a 55% rate, boasting a 527-438-10 record.

Wind makes it more difficult to move the ball through the air, cutting down the number of big passing plays and leading to a greater emphasis on the run game. That means more gradual drives and more clock movement, all of which leads to fewer scoring opportunities.

The total has seen drop, falling from 46.5 to 45.5, and even 45 in many spots. And while it's not clear whether or not that has anything to do with the forecast, it's noteworthy in any case given that only 45% of bettors are taking the under.
