Jimmy Garoppolo has suffered another unfortunate injury, this time against a familiar foe. Garoppolo was taken to a local hospital in Vegas on Sunday after injuring his back against his former team the New England Patriots.
It is still unclear how Garoppolo injured his back. He played the entire first half, completing 14-of-22 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown and one interception. However, he was replaced by Brian Hoyer to start the second. The team initially listed him as doubtful before eventually ruling him out.
Garoppolo’s dealt with several injuries in his first season with the Raiders. He suffered a concussion in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Steelers and missed the following game against the Chargers. Rookie Aidan O’Connell started the game against the Bolts, but was the team’s emergency quarterback on Sunday.
The Raiders closed as 3-point favorites at home against the Patriots, but an overwhelming amount of the bets (64%) and money (87%) were on the Patriots to cover the spread entering Sunday's matchup.
