  • The over/under for Sunday's NFC Championship Game between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers opened at 45, but ever since then, it's been the target of action from professional bettors (aka "sharps").
  • The updated odds show just how much impact pros had on the market.
  • Using our proprietary tools at The Action Network, let's analyze how sharps are picking this over/under and what we can expect going forward.

When it comes to sharp betting activity, conference championship week had been a quiet one heading into Thursday morning.

While we've seen some ping-ponging of numbers through the first few days, nothing screamed professional money hitting the market.

But that all changed late Thursday morning when sharps steamed Sunday's Packers vs. 49ers NFC Championship Game.

Steam refers to sudden, uniform line movement across the entire betting market and is typically the result of respected bettors getting down on the same side of one game all at once at multiple sportsbooks.

Here's the play wiseguys are making.

Packers vs. 49ers Sharp Betting Pick

The NFC Championship Game total opened at 45 with the over attracting 71% of bets on the total.

Sharps are among that majority, as Sports Insights' Bet Signals reported steam hitting Over 45 at 11:35 a.m. ET Thursday, forcing oddsmakers to adjust this number up to 46, and even to 46.5 in some spots.

While wintry conditions aren't synonymous with Santa Clara, Calif., a calm forecast at Levi's Stadium could be giving bettors who already like the over the confidence to go ahead and get down with the game now just three days away.
