The most popular team in survivor pools has been knocked out for the second week in a row.
Last week it was the Patriots upsetting the Bengals. This week it was the Ravens falling to the Raiders, who rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit for a 26-23 win.
The upset knocked a significant portion of survivor players out of their pools. A whopping 30% of the public picked Baltimore to advance. The upset is a major reason why over 50% of all survivor players have been knocked out before Week 2 ended. Last week’s upset by the Patriots over the Bengals as well as the Buccaneers win over the Lions, the Browns victory over the Jaguars and the Saints blowout of the Cowboys also played a large role in those eliminations.
Additionally, just over a quarter of players in the famed Circa Survivor pool selected the Ravens (26.5%). For those unaware, the Circa Survivor pool is the premiere knockout tournament in which the winner gets at least $10 million. It costs $1,000 to enter with a maximum of 10 entries per player, and this year's prize is over $14 million.
You can’t blame the public for picking the Ravens. Baltimore was far and away the heaviest favorite of Week 2, laying 9.5 points. History was also on the Ravens’ side. Lamar Jackson hadn’t lost back-to-back games since 2021. It’d also been 22 years since a reigning MVP started the year off 0-2.
Meanwhile, although their share wasn’t nearly as much as the Ravens, the Lions and Jaguars losing also cost players dearly on Sunday. Detroit was the fourth-most popular pick in the Circa Survivor contest (9.9%) while Jacksonville was the sixth (3.0%) and Cowboys the seventh (2.9%).
The Texans don’t play until Sunday night, but they’re the second-most popular pick of the week with 23.6% of entries selected to beat the Browns. They also boast 44% of all entries remaining after Sunday afternoon’s slate of games.
