It’s hard to fathom the bad beat we just witnessed in the Titans’ 31-12 win over the Dolphins.

I mean, how often have you seen a safety, a penalty on an onside kick and then a meaningless fourth-down touchdown by a team up double-digits all happen in the final 2:30 of a game?

It all added up to a bad beat that those who bet the under will never forget.

The total for this showdown of lackluster offenses was 37.5, the second-lowest of any game this week. It looked destined to hit as the teams were locked in a field-goal battle for most of the night. Even after the Titans finally punched the ball into the end zone, the under looked safe as Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa-less offense looked completely inept.

A mere 28 points were scored over the first 56:24 of the game. However, 18 points were scored in the final 3:36 as the game ended with 43 points on the board.

It all started when Tyler Huntley marched Miami down the field on a lengthy 11-play, 70-yard drive that spanned 7:09 and culminated with him punching it into the end zone. Huntley’s two-point conversion pass was picked off, securing the two-score lead for the Titans as they led 22-12.

The Dolphins forced a three-and-out on the next drive, forcing a Titans punt that landed at Miami’s eight-yard line. Huntley was flagged for intentional grounding on the first snap, resulting in a safety and a 24-12 Tennessee lead.

Miami declared an onside kick, and in a whacky sequence, the Titans player ran away from the ball as a Dolphin snatched it. It looked like Miami would take over. However, the ball didn’t land in the landing zone. The Dolphins were penalized 10 yards from where the kick took place, giving Tennessee the ball on Miami’s 10-yard line with 2:27.

The Titans ran the ball three times with Tony Pollard, who got it down to the four-yard line with 30 seconds to go. Those who bet the under were terrified Nick Folk would trot out there for the chip shot. Instead, head coach Brian Callahan opted to go for it, giving them hope. However, Pollard ended up finding the endzone, finishing off a wild and unfathomable sequence for the over to cash.
