The buzz is palpable. The taps are ready. The voices are well-rested.

It is almost that time. The 2022 World Cup starts this Sunday and the bets are flowing in.

This is the first World Cup with legalized sports betting in the United States, and that means the energy is at a completely different place than ever before.

On Wednesday, BetMGM sent out its notable bets so far for the World Cup. To put it lightly, there are some bags being dropped.

"Brazil and Argentina are betting favorites and would be tough outcomes for the sportsbook," said Seamus Magee, a Sports Trader at BetMGM. "BetMGM bettors are also backing the USA and Mexico heavily.”

Brazil winning the World Cup would be a dark result for BetMGM. They took a $150,000 bet on the Seleção to take home the trophy at +400 odds. If Brazil win the World Cup, that bettor is looking at a $600,000 payday.

That's not the only big bet BetMGM has taken so far. They took a $14,000 wager on Denmark at 28-1 odds to win the World Cup. That would result in a $392,000 payout.

Canada finished first in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. That's led to some bettors feeling bullish on their chances. One bettor placed a $2,500 bet on the Canadians to lift the trophy at +25000 odds. That bettor would be looking at $625,000 if Canada were to somehow pull it off.

As Magee already mentioned, the United States are getting plenty of the smaller bets. There is one bettor at BetMGM that placed a $1,000 wager on the USMNT to win it all at +10000 odds. That bet would net $100,000.

There was also a $1,000 bet that was placed on Serbia at +10000 to win the World Cup.

There will be plenty more big bets that roll in ahead World Cup. It feels like March Madness in November.
