The opening day of the 2018 World Cup was a complete success for hosts Russia as they crushed Saudi Arabia 5-0 while entertaining their own fans in the process. Here's a look at the betting results:

Match #1: Russia vs. Saudi Arabia (Group A)

Russia easily picked apart Saudi Arabia in the opening match of the World Cup, winning 5-0 on home turf. Yuri Gazinskiy scored the first goal of the tournament on a headed cross in the 12th minute before Denis Cheryshev added another before halftime to go up 2-0.

It was more of the same in the second half as Russia netted a third in the 71st minute and capped off the match with multiple stunners in stoppage time to make it 5-0.

The host nation has still never lost an opening game of the World Cup.
