Tyson Fury is back in action for the first time since losing to Oleksandr Usyk by split decision in May. The rematch Saturday is arguably the biggest boxing event of the year, save for that debacle in Dallas last month. This one should be a much better viewing experience.
But if you're in states like California, Georgia or Texas, you may not have access to the platforms you see advertised most often.
If you want to get money down on the fight and legal sportsbook apps like DraftKings and FanDuel aren't in your state, you have two main options:
- DFS Pick'em (available in 30+ states)
- Sweepstakes sportsbooks (available in 45+ states)
We'll dive into both below, and show you how to prognosticate on this fight without a traditional sportsbook.
Fury vs. Usyk Alternate Options
Sweepstakes Sportsbook
Sweepstakes sportsbooks seem a lot like traditional sportsbooks once you're inside them, but the financial mechanism is different. You make a purchase, then you "win" another currency. Several of these platforms, including Fliff and Rebet, are available in 40+ states. But other than that, the platforms will look similar to a traditional sportsbook and offer a lot of the same types of bets.
Unsure about social/sweepstakes betting? Read more up on how they work and their legality here.
More and more sweepstakes platforms seem to be popping up every month, but here are four we recommend:
- Fliff: Fliff is offering three main markets on the fight, the most established sweepstakes platform in the U.S., is offering three markets — moneyline, fight to go the distance, and over/under rounds. As of Thursday morning, Usyk is a -145 favorite, with Fury +105.
- Rebet: Rebet has a few more options, including winning method (like Usyk to win by decision at +125).
- Thrillzz: Thrillzz is available in fewer states than Rebet or Fliff, though still 30+ states.
- ProphetX: Prophet is a betting exchange, meaning you're wagering against other users, so they're offering the best price of any of these operators — 140 on Usyk as of Thursday morning, and +127 on Fury.
DFS Pick'em Contests
"DFS pick'em" as its called is not like traditional DFS, with a salary cap lineup. Instead, you're choosing player stats and stacking them together to create bigger payouts.
PrizePicks and Underdog are the two biggest apps in the space, but more and more pop up every year.
Here's how it works — pick at least two player statistics, and tie them together. Your payout will depend on the stats you pick, and how many you pick.
In this example, I'm taking both fighters to have more than their listed punches landed, expecting a long fight and active fight that likely goes the distance.
For boxing matches, PrizePicks will typically offer total punches landed, fantasy score, and total fight time.
Not every DFS site offers boxing stats, but PrizePicks has them for bigger bouts like this one.
- PrizePicks: At PrizePicks, they offer stats like total fight time, punches landed, and fantasy score.
- Underdog: Underdog has some options for Fury-Usyk — fight time, knockdowns, and total punches landed.
- Sleeper: Sleeper is also offering a few categories, and at least one different one from the other DFS sites (knockouts).
