The Texas Open tees off on Thursday morning as the PGA Tour closes in on Masters Week at TPC San Antonio.
The field for the Valero Texas Open is basically divided into two segments — those who are in The Masters and looking for a tune-up ahead of the year's first major, and those who aren't in The Masters but are hoping to punch their ticket with a win this week.
This week's favorite is Ludvig Aberg at +1200 odds. Right behind Aberg are Corey Conners and Tommy Fleetwood, both at +1600, and Patrick Cantlay at +1800 odds. Following them are Jordan Spieth and Hideki Matsuyama, who are coming in at +2000 to win the Texas Open.
The rest of the field is listed at 25/1 or longer.
Let's get into my Texas Open picks and PGA Tour preview for this weekend in San Antonio, including golf odds, a course breakdown, TV schedule, and more.

Valero Texas Open Picks
It doesn't seem like it, but Keegan Bradley has racked up seven wins on the PGA Tour in his career. He was picked to be the Ryder Cup captain this year and has said that he would love to play his way onto the team.
Despite playing some great golf over the last six months, he's 19th in the points standings to make Team USA. If he wants to be a player/captain, he will need a strong run over the next few months.
A win would certainly go a long way, and that could easily happen this week in San Antonio. He's an elite driver of the ball and has gained 13.4 strokes on approach in his last three events.
He's underrated around the green and is capable of having splash weeks with the putter. In six starts at this event in his career, he has two top-10 finishes.
Tony Finau is known as a bomber, but that hasn't really been his game over the last few years. While he has plenty of power, he's dialed back his swing off the tee in order to hit more fairways. This has improved his total driving metrics drastically.
Believe it or not, the two biggest strengths for him over the last year have been on approach and around the green, which is exactly what I am looking for this week in San Antonio.
His play this year has been hit-or-miss, but he still has top 20 finishes in nine of his last 16 events. Plus, the mediocre form has led to a very appealing price point in the outright market.
I'm mostly looking for elite iron players this week in San Antonio. While that hasn't historically been the strength of Maverick McNealy's game, he's 12th in this field in strokes gained approach in 2025. He gained 3.2 strokes with his irons last week and has gained over four strokes in three other tournaments so far this year.
When you combine that with his good driving and his elite putting, he's a golfer that could easily contend this week.
In his last 10 starts on the PGA Tour, he has a win and three more top-10 finishes. He's been solid in Texas throughout his career and is 2-for-2 at making the cut at this event.
Life isn't always fair. Golf certainly isn't always fair. Ben Griffin has been on a mission to make it to the Masters. He's teed in up in each of the last 12 events, which is wild to think about given that they have been all over the country.
He needed a big week in Houston to get inside of the top 50 in the OWGR to qualify for the Masters. While he finished T18, Michael Kim did just enough to beat out Griffin for the top 50.
At 51st in the OWGR, Griffin now needs to win this week to make it into the Masters and keep his consecutive start streak alive. It's certainly possible, as he's one of the best in the field from the fairway and in.
He gained 6.1 strokes on approach last week, which was the fifth-best mark of his career. He has three top 10 finishes in his last 14 starts and will likely have a "win or go home" mentality this week.
Maybe he'll have a rare fairy tale ending and punch his ticket to Augusta.
Valero Texas Open Course Preview
This week's event will be held at TPC San Antonio, which is a par 72 that measures 7,438 yards. The difficulty of the course hinges on the weather and while it's early in the week, the forecast is calling for 20+ mph wind gusts for three of the four rounds.
This course has narrow fairways (27 yards wide on average) that are difficult to hit (49% driving accuracy for the field in 2025). While the greens are average in size (6,400 square feet), they are also difficult to hit (57% greens in regulation rate in 2025). This places an emphasis on total driving, approach play, and around the green play.
We've seen a lot of short game specialists and elite iron players succeed here in the past. Having a good track record in Texas seems to go a long way, especially having a good track record at TPC San Antonio.
Course history at this venue is as predictive year over year as almost any other course in rotation other than Augusta National.
