Nelly Korda missed the cut at the U.S. Women's Open.
Korda has been the world's most dominant women's golfer this season. She had won six of her past seven events entering the U.S. Women's Open and was the heavy favorite to win the year's second major at +300 odds at most sportsbooks. Every other player in the field was +1000 or higher.
That was all for nothing as Korda won't play the weekend after shooting 80 in the first round and 70 in the second round. She finished at +10 and missed the cut by two strokes.
The problems came on Korda's third hole of the tournament, when she made a 10 on the par-3 12th hole. She was never able to right the ship after that, despite shooting even par on Friday. If she had made par on the 12th, she would be +3 and just six shots back of the leader.
Korda was a popular bet for most U.S. Women's Open bettors heading into the week. Jeff Sherman at Westgate's SuperBook said she was one of their major liabilities.
Most sportsbooks were not offering odds on Korda to make/miss the cut. It can be assumed she would've likely been around -1000 to -2000 to make the cut.
Korda had not missed a cut since the 2023 KPMG Women's PGA Championship. She had made the cut in 18 straight events after that event.
