This article contains predictions for an old game.

The New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers will play the series finale of their interleague series on Sunday, March 30. First pitch from Yankee Stadium is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on YES, FanDuel Wisconsin and can be streamed on MLB.TV.

The Yankees are going for the sweep of the Brewers after putting up a gaudy 20 runs in a blowout victory Saturday. Aaron Judge teed off on Milwaukee, going 4-for-6 with three home runs and eight RBI. It will be Marcus Stroman getting the start for New York on Sunday afternoon; he will be opposed by Milwaukee's Aaron Civale.

Yankees Betting Preview & Starting Lineup

Yankees Starting Lineup

  1. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
  2. Cody Bellinger CF
  3. Aaron Judge RF
  4. Jazz Chisholm Jr. 2B
  5. Anthony Volpe SS
  6. Austin Wells C
  7. Jasson Domínguez LF
  8. Ben Rice DH
  9. Oswaldo Cabrera 3B
  • Starting pitcher: Marcus Stroman

The Yankees are eyeing their first sweep of the season after beating the Brewers 20-9 in game two. The Bronx Bombers lived up to their nickname, cracking nine (!) home runs in the blowout win.

At the start of Spring Training, it appeared the Yankees would like Stroman to be elsewhere. Plus, he showed up to camp a week after the rest of the pitchers. Now, with Gerrit Cole, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt all out, Stroman is the Yankees' third starter.

The diminutive righty is coming off the worst season of his professional career. He posted a 4.94 XERA and 4.62 FIP compared to a 4.31 ERA, so he was definitely a bit lucky last year. More troubling, Stroman had a career-worst ground-ball rate (49%) and a career-high HR/9.

I don't have a lot of hope for Stroman to turn things around, either. He's nothing more than an innings eater at this point, and the Yankees' "improved" defense had seven errors Saturday. With how many ground balls Stroman induces, he needs a stellar outing from the defense.

Hopefully the Yankees didn't use all their hitting Saturday. I'm really beginning to buy stock in the Yankees offense. Of course, playing in one of the more offensive field environments doesn't hurt, but Aaron Judge, who hit three homers Saturday, will get pitched around pretty often. That'll lead to more traffic on the bases, which makes it paramount for the trio of Cody Bellinger, Austin Wells, and Anthony Volpe to hit well.

The one other thing I'm monitoring for the Yankees total is the new bat used by Volpe and Jazz Chisholm Jr., who each homered in game two. The Yankees middle-infield tandem used a new bat that puts more of the wood towards the label, so the contact is harder away from the sweet spot. I'm curious to see how big of a role that plays, and Yankees totals may need to be adjusted higher if it does.

Brewers Betting Preview & Starting Lineup

Brewers Starting Lineup

  1. Brice Turang 2B
  2. Jackson Chourio LF
  3. Christian Yelich DH
  4. William Contreras C
  5. Sal Frelick RF
  6. Jake Bauers 1B
  7. Garrett Mitchell CF
  8. Joey Ortiz SS
  9. Oliver Dunn 3B
  • Starting pitcher: Aaron Civale

The Brewers will hand the ball to Civale, who will look to salvage a win for his ball club. I'm not very optimistic in Civale pitching well. Maybe he won't put up Nestor Cortes numbers, but Civale, just like Cortes, is trending in the wrong direction. He posted a 4.36 ERA and 4.74 FIP with a 1.64 HR/9 in 161 innings between the Brewers and Rays.

In Civale's last two outings in the Bronx, he allowed nine runs in 9 2/3 innings. He hasn't fared well against the Short Porch, and I can't see him doing much better Sunday.

Milwaukee scored nine runs in yesterday's game, so the bats came to life a bit after an ugly first game. The most impressive part was second-year outfielder Jackson Chourio snagging a pair of hits, including a double. He's the leadoff hitter for the Brewers and needs to be a tone-setter to get Stroman out of sync. Christian Yelich is another key; he has a .900 OPS in 12 at-bats versus Stroman in his career.

I'd also expect Pat Murphy to put a few more left-handers in the lineup versus Stroman after facing lefties in the first two games. That should include Jake Bauers, who has the power to hit the Short Porch.

Brewers vs Yankees Prediction, Over/Under Betting Analysis

I have absolutely no faith in either Stroman or Civale. The total sits at just 8.5 runs, and I could easily see both teams scoring well over five runs. Give me the over.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-115; play to -135)

Moneyline

I have no play on the moneyline.

Run Line (Spread)

I also have no bet on the run line.

Over/Under

I see value on the over in this matchup after a ridiculous 29 runs yesterday.

Brewers vs Yankees Parlay

  • Cody Bellinger 2+ total bases
  • Christian Yelich 2+ total bases
  • Aaron Judge 2+ total bases

I'll call this one the MVP SGP — all three players included won MVPs in different season. Bellinger just went 3-for-4 on Saturday, Judge drilled three homers and Yelich is due to pop one over the Short Porch (and he has good history versus Stroman).
