The NASCAR Cup Series visits Dover Motor Speedway this afternoon and weather will likely impact Sunday's Würth 400 (1 p.m. ET, FS1).
Rain washed all out track activity at Dover on Friday, though it was dry enough yesterday to get in Cup Series practice before precipitation forced NASCAR to cancel qualifying and set the starting lineup by the "metric."
However, the latest weather forecast for Sunday at Dover doesn't look very promising, so much so that NASCAR moved up the start of today's Würth 400 one hour in order to avoid the rain.
Will this move by NASCAR help avoid the poor weather forecast for Dover, or is this all a moot point?
Below, we break down the latest NASCAR weather forecast for Dover, including the chances that Sunday's race gets delayed by rain.
NASCAR Weather Forecast for Dover
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 100% chance of rain, including a flood watch, in Dover on Sunday.
Yikes.
The hourly breakdown shows the chances of precipitation bouncing between 56-70% from 1 p.m. ET through 7 p.m. ET as well, so it seems like it'll be wet today in Dover.
And while Sunday's NASCAR weather forecast does start to clear up around 8 p.m. ET, Dover Motor Speedway does not have lights, so there is not an option to dry the track and get racing once the sun sets.
In the event that today's race does get postponed, Monday's forecast is much better with sunny conditions and just a 20% chance of rain.
The latest NASCAR odds show Kyle Larson as the Würth 400 favorite at +490, followed by Chase Elliott (+700), William Byron (+750), Denny Hamlin (+800) and Kevin Harvick (+900)
