Death, taxes and rain in the NASCAR weather forecast for Martinsville Speedway.
The spring race at Martinsville is no stranger to wet weather, and it appears that NASCAR may once again have to dodge the rain for Sunday's NOCO 400 (3 p.m. ET, FS1).
In fact, Saturday night's Craftsman Truck Series race was delayed multiple times and completed just 124 of the scheduled 200 laps due to rain.
However, the latest NASCAR weather forecast for Sunday doesn't look terrible either, so let's dig deeper to determine just when any potential rain is expected to arrive and how much could fall today at Martinsville.
NASCAR Weather Forecast for Martinsville
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 40% chance of rain at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, and with a 3 p.m. ET green flag, timing will be key.
The hourly breakdown shows a 35% chance of precipitation at 3 p.m. ET, which then increases to 47% by 6 p.m. ET before peaking at 64% two hours later.
Based on this, it looks like a 50/50 chance of wet weather today at Martinsville Speedway, though new rainfall amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.
For those wondering, Martinsville does have lights, so there is certainly an opportunity to wait out the rain, dry the track and get restarted on Sunday night even if the sun has already set.
As of the time of writing, William Byron is the race favorite at 4-1, followed by Tyler Reddick (9-1), Kyle Busch (10-1), Denny Hamlin (10-1), Kevin Harvick (10-1) and Chase Elliott (10-1) based on the latest NASCAR odds.
