He writes the songs that make the whole world sing, and now his adoring fans around the world will always know where to find him.
Barry Manilow accepted an unprecedented offer of a Lifetime Residency at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. But that's not all, because he’ll continue to perform his show at the International Theater, for as long as he wants.
Manilow's unmatched tenure at the International Theater reached a new milestone earlier this year when he surpassed Elvis Presley's record of 636 performances at the venue. Now, he’ll continue to pad his stats, beginning with a string of holiday shows that begin later this week.
"Barry Manilow is a generational artist and a dear friend," said Westgate Founder & Executive Chairman David Siegel. "Over the years, we have built a personal and professional relationship that is truly special, and I am honored to offer Barry the opportunity to perform at Westgate for a lifetime."
"It's been an incredible journey performing at the International Theater," said the multiple award-winning artist, Barry Manilow. "David Siegel and the Westgate team have been like family to me, and I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to call Westgate home for the rest of my career."
Who Is Barry Manilow?
Manilow's path to fame began in the 1970s when he emerged as one of the era's top pop performers. He initially gained attention working out of New York as a jingle writer and performer, crafting memorable tunes for companies like Band-Aid and State Farm, which showcased his knack for catchy melodies. This early work laid the foundation for a career defined by numerous hit songs and albums that have resonated with audiences worldwide.
Manilow's breakthrough came with the release of his 1974 album "Barry Manilow II," which featured the smash hit "Mandy." This track marked the beginning of a successful run that included a string of chart-toppers such as "Can't Smile Without You," "Copacabana," and "I Write the Songs."
Known for his lush orchestrations and emotional vocal delivery, Manilow's music often blends pop, rock, jazz, and show-tune elements. His distinctive sound not only garnered him commercial success but also established him as a formidable figure in the music industry.
Barry Manilow Does Have a 3-Reel Slot Machine
Barry Manilow casino sightings do happen at The Westgate. You may see Barry walking through the casino to get to the theater every once in a while (I can attest). But if you miss him, you can try your luck on the slot machine that bears his name.
“Manilow” is a 3-reel slot machine, and your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to land three “M’s” in order to hit the jackpot. Playing two credits will earn you double the money. Triple 7s, Bars, and cherries will also pay off.
There’s also a 5-reel online slot machine that you may come across called “At The Copa.” However, this game does not feature Lola with her dress cut down to there (as in the song); instead, it's Carolina dancing the night away AT THE COPA, although Rico is one of the best salsa dancers at the club. No word on if he's wearing a diamond.
