Bill Belichick's odds to coach the Falcons have gone up precipitously after the Cowboys decided to retain Mike McCarthy on Wednesday night.

Belichick's odds to coach the Falcons shot up from +250 to +105 after the news. The Falcons had been the No. 3 favorite overall — behind Belichick not coaching an NFL team and "any other NFL team" (the Cowboys most prominent) — prior to Wednesday.

The future Hall of Fame head coach interviewed with the Falcons on Monday.

Now, "any other NFL team" is No. 2 overall on the odds board with DraftKings. "Any other NFL team" encompasses team not including the Falcons, Commanders, Chargers, Titans, Panthers, Giants, Jets and Saints.

Teams that could encompass that "any other team" umbrella are now primarily the Raiders, Seahawks, Jaguars or Eagles. Out of those, only the Raiders and Seahawks have actual openings. The Eagles may rid of Nick Sirianni after a tumultuous end of the season, while the Jaguars saw a collapse of similar proportions that might force Doug Pederson out.

The third-most likely scenario, according to the odds board as of Wednesday, sees Belichick coach no NFL team next season.

This market will settle depending on which team — or not — Belichick is the head coach for during Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Each of the following underdogs have seen their odds fall substantially over the last few days, as the coaching market has begun to solidify: the Commanders, Chargers and Titans. The trio of teams have begun to interview a myriad of candidates — sans Belichick, who has only taken the time to speak with the Falcons.

The Chargers have interviewed, notably, Jim Harbaugh, who remains the favorite to become their new head coach, according to odds from DraftKings.

The Panthers are an unlikely candidate because of their shaky ownership and lack of upside. And the last three teams on the odds board have an existing head coach.
