The Detroit Lions were enjoying a laugher in Dallas, leading the Cowboys 34-6 early in the third quarter. However, things took a somber turn when Aidan Hutchinson suffered a gruesome leg injury while sacking Dak Prescott. The horrific looking injury was so ugly that the broadcast refused to show an indepth replay.

Hutchinson entered the game as the NFL’s sack leader with 6.5. He was also a narrow favorite for Defensive Player of the Year according to Caesars. Hutchinson was +250 to win the coveted award while T.J. Watt was +300. They were both well ahead of their closest competitors in Chris Jones (+900), Maxx Crosby (+1200), Patrick Surtain (+1200) and Nick Bosa (+1200), according to odds from Caesars before the week.

Hutchinson knew something was wrong the second he hit the turf. He clutched at his leg and took his gloves off in visible pain. Play was stopped for quite a while as the cart came out to take him off the field with his left leg in an air cast.
