Deshaun Watson suffered a non-contact leg injury late in the first half of the Cleveland Browns’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Immediate reports are that it is an Achilles injury.
The quarterback dropped back in the pocket and looked to run when he instead fell to the turf. Dorian Thompson-Robinson took over under center as Cleveland elevated him as the team’s backup this week. Jameis Winston is the team’s emergency third quarterback today.
Watson, who has struggled mightily this year, was in the midst of perhaps his best game, completing 15-of-17 passes for 128 yards. He entered the game completing just 122-of-199 attempts for 1,020 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions for a 76.6 passer rating.
The Browns were consensus 5.5-point underdogs against the division rival Bengals. Meanwhile, Watson’s props on the day were 197.5 passing yards, 21 completions and 33.5 attempts. He was also +330 to score an anytime TD.
