Update: The Seahawks have an estimated 49% chance to make the NFL playoffs entering Week 16. They face just one team in the postseason chase, the Steelers, but their other two games are on the road in Tennessee and Arizona.
The Seahawks took advantage of an easy first two-thirds of the season. Everyone knew they had tough tests down the stretch, and they’ve unfortunately failed miserably.
The Seahawks lost four in a row to the Rams, 49ers, Cowboys and 49ers again. As a result they’ve gone from 6-3 and in the driver’s seat for a postseason berth to 6-7 and a longshot to make the playoffs. The Seahawks have a 27% chance to make the NFL playoffs entering Week 15, according to Action Network's Predictive Analytics team.
Things don’t get any easier this week as they host the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Geno Smith missed last week’s game with a groin injury, and his status to return for their next game is up in the air. Things do soften up a bit after that as they face the Titans, Steelers and Cardinals to end the year.
However, it might be a case of too little too late as they’re only 5-5 against NFC opponents. If they lose to Philadelphia, the best they can be is .500 with a win over Arizona, which likely means they’ll be on the short end of tiebreaker scenarios.
