With wildfires boiling over in the Los Angeles area, the rightful concern of everyone is first with all those affected by the devastation.
But there are secondary/tertiary impacts, including with sporting events. The NFL announced Thursday night that the Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Rams game will not be played at SoFi Stadium on Monday night and instead be moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., home of the Cardinals.
The venue change prompted multiple books to move the Vikings from -1.5 to -2.5, including DraftKings, FanDuel, ESPNBET and The SuperBook.
"The market is moving up a little," SuperBook vice president John Murray said. "I guess it'll be mostly Vikings fans in Arizona, instead of in LA."
Bets made prior to the venue change could be impacted. House rules at BetMGM and Caesars Sports call for all game-related bets to be voided and for refunds to be issued if there’s a venue change, even if the game is played on the same day.
However, at DraftKings Sportsbook, all game-related bets are still live, even if the game is moved. DraftKings' house rule on this matter reads: “In the event a game venue is changed, and the home team remains designated as the home team, bets will stand.”
The Rams, as the No. 4 seed, will remain the home team on a neutral field vs. the No. 5 seed Vikings.
At The SuperBook in Las Vegas, all bets on a Monday game in Glendale will be live.
“We are action wherever played, so all tickets are live,” Murray said, noting the only way that would change would be if the game isn’t played within eight days of the originally scheduled date.
